The Probate Court has jurisdiction under Connecticut General Statutes to handle specific types of matters that affect the residents of East Haven and North Haven. Most commonly, the Court monitors and supervises the distribution of a person's property after death.
There are also many functions of the Court that assist residents during their lifetimes. Matters dealing with the custody, guardianship and adoption of minors; the appointment of conservators for adults unable to manage their own affairs, appointments of guardians for individuals with intellectual disabilities and applications for change of name are all within the jurisdiction of the Probate Court.
North Haven and East Haven merged their courts into a single court in January 2011.
The court's hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Our staff looks forward to assisting you.
