Senior Center & Social Services

Happy New Year!! January can be a special time, bringing with it a unique sense of peace and commitment. After the busy holiday season, the quieter days of winter offer the opportunity to relax, reflect and savory the simple joys of life. There’s something comforting about the slower pace, whether it’s enjoying a hot cup of coffee or reading a book. The start of the new year can also inspire gratitude for the experiences of the past and hope for what is to come. May the New Year bring you and your health, happiness, and success.

Start off January by participating in our first annual exercise challenge. During January attend as many exercise and wellness classes as you can and win prizes. Attend 75% or more of exercise and wellness classes and you earn a $25.00 gift card to Kohl’s, senior center water bottle and tee shirt. Attend 50% of the classes and earn a senior center tee shirt or water bottle, your choice. The classes are all circuit training classes, Taking Shape with Maureen, Active Older Adult Fit, Movement to Music, Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Chair Yoga and the daily walk Good luck to all!!!

In other news, our popular “lunch and learn” series continues on January 20 with a presentation by Paula Dias, Branford Branch Manager of Crosspoint Credit Union, on financial scams targeted towards seniors. Also, on January 27 January our friends from the East Shore District Health Department (ESDHD) will be presenting “New Year, Mindful You” on combating the winter blues through art. Lunch is provided but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

With the winter weather also comes cold and flu season, and the health and safety of all Senior Center participants remains a priority. The Senior Center asks all participants to adhere to proper hygiene (wash those hands!). As much as we like to see you if you are feeling sick, please stay home.

As always, please do not hesitate to call the East Haven Senior Center at 203-468-3277 if you or anyone you know have any questions or need assistance.

Thank you for your continued support.
