The East Haven Police Department’s Accreditation & Crime Analysis Division is a newly established component of the department, created in response to the department’s rapid growth and continued commitment to professionalism, accountability, and excellence in policing.
The division ensures continued compliance with the accreditation standards of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST). This includes developing, implementing, and updating departmental policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current POST standards, as well as gathering, organizing, and maintaining documentation required to demonstrate ongoing compliance. In addition to POST, the department has also maintained its accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) since its initial accreditation in 2019. Adherence to these standards promotes transparency with the public as well as establishing fair and nondiscriminatory practices among personnel.
The Accreditation Manager works closely with the Professional Standards and Administrative & Training divisions to ensure the department adheres to the most current policies, laws and training requirements. The Accreditation Manager also coordinates with the Patrol and Detective divisions to assist in crime analysis for the department.
As East Haven continues to evolve, the Accreditation & Crime Analysis Division plays a critical role in ensuring the department meets the highest standards of professionalism while adapting to the needs of a growing community.
