The Public Safety Communications Center is located within the East Haven Police Department. The center is staffed 24/7 and employs 10 full-time dispatchers. All the police, fire and medical routine and emergency calls are received through the center. The center dispatches and coordinates all the responses for the police and fire departments for the town of East Haven. The dispatchers are trained in many areas to provide the best and most efficient service to the residents of East Haven. Some of the required certifications include: Connecticut Public Safety Telecommunicator, American Heart Association CPR, International Academy of Emergency Medical, Police and Fire Dispatch, COLLECT (Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Communications Teleprocessing) and National Incident Management System Certifications, as well as participating in continuing education each year. The center plays an integral role with the police and fire departments and is crucial to department operations.
