Records Division

The Records Division is the central repository for all of the Department's records, which include accident investigations and investigative reports. Copies of reports can be obtained in person by coming to the Records Division, online, or by written request via email. 

Most accident reports are available online. You will need the 10-digit case number, the date of the accident, and one of the parties involved in order to obtain a copy of the report. All other reports can either be picked up in person at the East Haven Police Department Records Division during normal business hours or requested by mail. If you are requesting a report by mail, please include the fee for the report and a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Requests for reports can also be emailed. The Records Division personnel will then contact you with the cost to obtain the records requested.

The Records Division is able to do a record check for the Town of East Haven only. If you would like a record check for another town, you must contact that town directly. If you would like a record check for the State of Connecticut, you must contact the State Police.

In order to obtain a background check for the Town of East Haven only, you must appear in person at the East Haven Police Department Records Division during normal business hours. Please note, the fee is $16 USD per background check.
